Access to Online Library Resources During Upcoming Network Outage

As you may be aware, Wagner College's computer network will be shut down for a system upgrade, from Friday March 4th through Tuesday March 8th.

As a result of this outage:

- There will be NO Internet access from any library computers.
- There will be no ILL services available.
- There will be no access to the library's research databases from either on or off-campus computers.
- The library's Meebo chat (instant message) reference service will be unavailable.

For students and faculty wishing to conduct online research during this period, we suggest the following alternative options:

  • New York Public Library online databases - If you have a valid NYPL library card, you can access many of the same Ebsco databases that Horrmann Library subscribes to, via the NYPL web site. Databases available include Academic Search Premier, Business Source Premier, Medline, PsycInfo, PsycArticles, Historical Abstracts, Health Reference Center Academic, Project Muse, ERIC, and the MLA Bibliography. For a list of all databases available via the NY Public Library, click here. (If you do not see the specific database name listed, try clicking on the "EbscoHost" link).
  • Google Scholar - you can perform a Google Scholar search to look for scholarly research articles on the open web. In some cases you can access the full-text freely online. If not, you can request the full-text via Interlibrary Loan. (Please note that ILL services will not be available until the campus network resumes operation on March 9th. Please wait until then to submit your ILL requests.)
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this network outage. All regular library access should be back online as of Wed. March 9th. If you need any assistance during this period, please stop by the library Reference Desk, or contact us by phone at 718-390-3402.
